Understanding IVF Success Rates

Success in IVF treatment depends on several key factors, including:

Why It’s Recommended

Number and stage of embryos transferred – Transferring one high-quality embryo at a time is safest for both mother and child. Multiple pregnancies (twins or more) carry higher risks during pregnancy and delivery. Thomson Fertility prioritises single embryo transfer to ensure the best and safest outcomes.

How Thomson Fertility
Reports Success Rates

As one of Malaysia’s leading fertility centres, Thomson Fertility’s IVF success rates are among the highest in the region, with pregnancy rates of approximately [XX% to XX%] for patients aged [age group, e.g., 35–40] undergoing PGT-A.

We abide by the Malaysian standard of measuring fertility treatment success based on clinical pregnancies. A clinical pregnancy is when the ultrasound scan has shown at least one foetal heartbeat. This is different from normal pregnancy rates using positive urine or blood test results, which may not be accurate due to the medications taken during IVF treatment, which disrupts hormonal levels in the bloodstream.

Thomson Fertility’s Success Rates

For a more accurate portrayal of our success rates, we also document our clinical pregnancy rates:

with PGT and Time-Lapse Embryo Monitoring

This treatment combines several advanced technologies to help improve your chances of a successful pregnancy. In a freeze-all IVF cycle, eggs are fertilised with sperm in the lab to form embryos. These embryos are then carefully grown to Day 5 (blastocyst stage) in a special time-lapse monitoring incubator. The time-lapse system allows our embryologists to continuously observe embryo development without removing them from the stable, protected environment of the incubator. This helps identify the embryos with the best growth potential.

Before the embryos are frozen, a small number of cells are taken for Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) — a screening process that checks for the correct number of chromosomes. This helps select embryos most likely to result in a healthy pregnancy and reduces the risk of miscarriage.

Recognised by
The Malaysian Book of Records

Since opening our doors in 1994, Thomson Fertility has walked alongside thousands of couples on their journey to parenthood — combining medical expertise with heartfelt support every step of the way.

In 2013, we were honoured by The Malaysian Book of Records for achieving the Highest Number of IVF Babies, with 3,210 babies born between 1994 and 2013.
By 2018, that number had grown to an incredible 5,388 babies, earning us the same recognition once again.

Each of these numbers represents a story of hope, perseverance, and new beginnings — and we continue to celebrate every success as part of our ongoing mission to bring the joy of life to more families.
